"It's only a once in a lifetime event to see a majestic bobcat."

Well come on!

The other day I played tag with a bobcat at 11:00am while trying to sneak a cookie in my mouth.
Then the day before I stood on the deck with a hose and tried to spray it (it worked with a raccoon) but It wanted to play.

Whoever is re-habing these bobcats and returning them into the wild around here needs to quit. I worry that people will leave their kittens outside and just a few seconds later the bobcat runs off with them for dinner.

Coyotes bother cows- shoot the coyotes. Coyotes eat bobcat kittens. Bobcats bother domestic cats and smaller livestock. And if you shoot the bobcats.... the foxes and weasels come out!

What in the world?! No more free-ranging my chickens.

Sorry for the rant... but my chickens and I are getting sick and tired of this. I guess I'll tell you the story in pictures... (sometimes I get carried away.)

400
October 2011. Muffy (Buff Orpington hatchery) killed by a bobcat. Led trail of feathers across highway and all over yard.

November 2011. Honk (Australorp in molt) killed by a bobcat.

I heard chicken distress and went outside. Thought coast was clear.

Came around corner of shed and saw bobcat 2 feet ahead of me holding her head in its mouth.

Can you see him?

How about now?

Is this better?

And now I think there's 2.

I now have my bobcat trap. And fellow Archer.

Well it tricks my dogs and house cat... and this bobcat falls for my dying animal sounds... so this is my trap:

An white Angora rabbit puppet attached to strong string.

Procedure: Make it move. Movement is fun for kitties.

I will start updating daily. It's been coming back everyday now.

I don't know what state you're in but you better be sure you're not violating game laws first.

Just curious why didn't you shoot it? I have one lurking around my place & I'm not letting mine out when I'm not out there with them.

There's no way we can't shoot it. We're in a surrounded neighborhood with young children running around our house. (Don't ask why they're not supervised.) Also, it watches the hens from someone else's property sometimes.

And they are considered critical around here...

I'd shoot him right off that fence post. Looks like surf in the background? Surely no houses out that way? There are loads available that will fragment on impact, practically eliminating risk of ricochet. How far is that fence post from your available shooting point? A 40-yard shot with a bow is not that difficult.

Get a Benjamin pellet gun pump it 10 times & whambo. If its the law your worried about call them & ask them to help. Show them the picture. If know one will help I'd kill it. Its not leaving on its own.But thats just me I'm a country boy or SSS.
