One of my favorite hens has adopted my son. She hangs with us when we're out together, and if he starts to fuss or make noises that sound vaguely like distress calls, she comes over to check out the situation. I was making him giggle the other day with some funny faces and she kept circling his stroller nervously. She lets him stroke her wing and wattles, even if he's doing it a little too roughly (he's only 10 mos. and is learning to be gentle). And his whole face lights up when he sees her. His word for "chicken" is the first syllable of her name.
I've said it before, I'll say it again: animals are the best. Especially chickens.
