Well, if you don't want to use fermented feed, you could always just make it a wet feed by mixing warm water in.

If you are determined on dry feed, you could try a trough with hardware cloth over it, it has to be kept fairly full so the food level is within reach of their beaks. Or you could do a no waste feeder using something like a tall cottage cheese container and figure some way to hang it.

First, is there a lot of feed in the bedding? Not knowing how many chicks & how big the feeder is, can't say if they just ate it all. 2 week old chicks eat a lot. I would never take food away from chicks.

There are ten chicks and yes i can see the feed in 5he bedding. ;/. A lot of it. Night before last i filled it at eight pm amd by nine am it was empty.
