I currently have 9 laying hens/pullets. I labeled the pictures and their corresponding eggs on the pictures.

1. Black Marans. Not sure where the egg came from, but it was a school hatching project. Sometimes her eggs are speckled, but not usually. They’re a nice brown color, though not as dark as a quality Marans would lay.

2. Speckled Sussex. She came from Privett Hatchery and apparently didn’t get the mottling gene. Her eggs have a pretty heavy bloom so they tend to look pinkish.

3. Olive Egger. Also from Privett Hatchery. I’m guessing MaransxCream Legbar. He eggs were much darker last year, but this year she tends to be more of a sage green than the deep olive she was laying previously. Sometimes they are speckled.

4. Dominique. Also from Privett. Light tan, occasionally speckled.

5. Easter Egger. From Cocktails and Hens, a local breeder. Really pretty mint green color, occasionally speckled.

6. Sultan. From Cocktails and Hens. This one and the next are culls from a breeding project to create a colored Sultan. The eggs are a tinted white.

7. Sultan. Another cull from C&H’s breeding project. This pullet’s eggs are a shade lighter, a creamy white color.

8. ISA Brown. From a local feed store, not sure which Hatchery they sourced from. Golden brown eggs.

9. ISA Brown. Same as #8, though her eggs tend to have a heavier bloom, making them look pinkish.

Very well done explanation with some gorgeous pics! Thank you!

Thanks for the photos! I'd been looking for photos of OEs from Privett's....thinking about getting some.
