So far, I have two hens making that ominous clucking sound and flaring out at everyone. No one has settled on a nest yet, but both Nugget, my youngest Buff Orp who was broody last February, and Riley, my Barred EE, who has never been broody before, are telling me to watch out, the Broody Train is leaving the station, LOL. Just a matter of time, I think. Now, I just hope it's only those two...

'tis the season, right?

One broody is nice, two is a bit more work, more than that is a royal pain! I have only two broody pens to keep hens in and my Delaware rooster is in one of them, healing up his comb and wattles from his nagging women.

Actually, I'm shocked that no one around here has gone broody yet. By this point last year two silkies had hatched out chicks and were gearing up for round two. The little slackers aren't doing anything this year.

iv been dealing with a broody for 3 weeks shes a 10 month old glw standard. i gave her 6 eggs she kept going nest to nest sitting on different eggs. so i tryed a seperate pen it worked for a day she decided she wanted out . then she went back to the nestboxes and goes nest to nest been going on for 2 weeks yikes. shes in full broodie mode with her rough breast and everything .she is determined. i guess i will try her again in the seperate pen lock her in with food and water . what do you guys do.
