i have 2 rouens, 3 runners and 5 harlequins. They have free range of my 5 acres with a pond during the day and at night are locked up. This morning my rouen ran out and sat on a nest it looks like ahe built yesterday. She laid an egg this morning in the nest and is broody. My question is can i move her? Also is there something easy i can build her to seperate her from the rest of the ducks or should i put a nest box in their house? Thanks!!

If where her nest is located is safe from predators, then you can let her sit there. If not you can move her to a much safe place, though she might choose to build a new nest if she doesn't like where you might have relocated her. Again depending on the nature of their house you can create a nest inside for her as long as she gets less distractions from the other ducks.

I am new to ducks. I have 2 broody Silkies that are sitting on 3 duck eggs. One egg hatched out Saturday on day 26. The other 2 are not doing anything. I hear nothing.

The duck that hatched is a Khaki Cambpell. One other egg looks to be that and the other one, I don't know.

How long should I wait? Is there anything I can do to help.
I would post picture but I haven't figured out how to do it from iPad.
I did change avatar picture.

Thanks
Marlene

Have you candled? sometimes it can take 30 days so candle first. 26 days is short for a KC it's usually 28-30 days other than calls I believe are 26 days and Muscovy's are 35

I have not candled. I tried last night but didn't see much but the air sac. I have cracked eggs before during candling so I just left them alone.

I am starting to get anxious. What if I only have the one and it is a drake? I've seen in here the drake isn't always nice to hens. I live in the city. I don't have a lot of room for different coops etc.
I hope it works out. My 11 yr old is in love.

Drakes can be rough on females, mating in the water fowl world is rough. But I love my drake now that I only have 2 when I had 4 it was way too much testosterone for everyone.

I'd monitor the eggs especially if it gets past 30-34 days you don't want eggs rotting and bursting in the nest that would be alot of nasty bacteria.

Hope you get a few more ducklings.
