I was only just thinking of firing up my incubator, and all of a sudden we've had mystery power failures for no reason, and the winter storms have started to show up. AArgggghhhh!

Do you ever get hit with lake effect from those systems coming up from the South? I was just looking at the extended forecast for the next three months. Looks like Spring is definitely on the way here. It is nice in some ways. My first batch is starting to hatch. One bantam Salmon Faverolle is out, and those buggers are always hatching at least a day or two early for some crazy reason. I have about 25 Buckeyes in this first batch. I have another bigger batch going into the incubator today too. I will be skipping the next couple of weeks of setting Buckeyes since I am switching up the males today.

LOL thankfully I was only thinking about setting some eggs, but I didn't actually do it. I'm in a pretty good location in Ontario, we don't get lake much effect snow from either the Great Lakes or from Georgian Bay, nor the ice/feezing rain that is more common in the eastern part of the province-, and, it doesn't get too cold for chickens most of the time!
MCM good luck with your hatch- it's definitely spring, you can tell by all the chicks being hatched!

I have 5 or 6 rabbits due to have their babies this weekend too. LOL
One Buckeye hatched too, and several have pipped, so we are in business for Spring hatching.

Its amazing that there is only 21 days between these two chicks. The reddish horn color can be observed on the shanks as well.

Awesome! How long will that take? I am so excited for my first show season! I want to try the Hutch show but dont want to be shredded by the pros
