A few pics. There is also a pic of my Buck who decided to go Brody already! She started out as a kind broody and has become evil. I should get gloves lol

The roosters look like they have wry tail but there was a 20 mph wind when I was taking pics!

Thank you. I was thinking between 20 - 24 but I also would like them not to be too tough so didn't want to wait too long and wish I had done it earlier.

Going to be hard to process these boys...at least up to current, all the Buckeyes are the most gentle and enjoyable breed "personality-wise" I've had. Really liking their demeanor but, of course, the boys haven't become "men" yet. I guess I'll have to reserve my judgement until I see how they behave then

Some get feisty and some don't. I have never had a people aggressive Buckeye, but this year I have had too many who were overly aggressive with each other and sent them to process. I introduced another line last year and I think something came out of that that caused the ill-tempered boys.

They make great mothers. I had two buckeyes that went broody this year TWICE. I got them from a good buckeye breeder. I just wish I bought more from that person at the time. What I have been doing was putting more eggs in the incubator and let the hens sit on 4 or so eggs. So after her and the those in the incubator hatch then I put 9 - 10 chicks under her at night. The rest are sold.
Those are very good looking roo and hen...

At least they r nothing like Cochins! Mine have been broody three times this year and my standard hen has started making broody clucks again!

I used to do that to but I had better luck with letting the broody hatch them all. My broody Buckeye was sitting on 15 eggs and all had development but 3! So she should have a good sized brood!

Thank you! The breeder I got them from sure does have beautiful birds!

I am so glad to see Buckeyes brooding. I was hoping to have a broody hen come spring so maybe there's hope for one of the up-and-coming Buckeye girls!

I have an uber-broody Buckeye hen- she has gone broody four times this summer. She just has to hear another broody hen clucking and off she goes- and she's very hard to break too. Next spring, she can hatch some chicks for me.

Now, That would drive me crazy with having birds go broody three times. The person you got them from must work very hard with breeding to standard and he/she must know what they are doing. Please post pics of the fuzzy butts when they hatch.

I will do that. I have one Buckeye/Easter egged right now and that's it for Buckeye crosses. I'm thinking its a pullet but it's hard to tell!
