The Buckeye Thread

We have used McMurray for some birds that we didn't want to pay breeders price for or nice assortments. Growing up I have seen birds from Meyer's, Strombergs, Mt Healthy and Cackle as well. I have tried Meyer's myself. McMurray's birds have always lasted.

We free range our mixed flock of pastured birds. So they have to be smart and hardy. I want you to know that 64% of our McMurray birds survived to Rooster and hen age while only 25% of Meyer's birds survived to that same age. 2 of the Meyer's survivors were Buckeyes.
