I will try to get a better photo of the pink band girl that shows a different angle.

On the boy, I was thinking his tail was a little low as well. Wondering if that may change with age? His color is darker than the photos show. I did some with flash and some without and the ones without are a better representation of color. I'll probably try to get another few at a time when it's not so dark out

For tail angle, I watch how they hold the main tail feathers. If those are consistently held low, then the entire tail will be also, and I find the older they get, they lower it goes. Not something you want keep going in a flock of Buckeyes.

I'm thinking it was the photo and time of day/flash, etc.

If it ever quits raining around here, I'm going to take a few more photos of the cockerel and the pink banded girl and see if I can get better natural lighting.

And maybe some of the green band pullet lol. I think she is my second favorite of the pullets but can't tell from the angle?

I've noticed that my cell camera makes my Buckeye rooster look paler than he is in real life. I liked the colour of my first rooster, he was a good dark red, very even. His son is a tad lighter shade- not a good trend.

Here is a pic of my rooster. He needs some work on his comb but he will do just fine! My backup rooster has a really nice comb but isn't quite as wide as the main rooster. I need to get new pics of both of them.

Okay...so from the light in your photo, your cockerel appears much darker in color than any of my buckeyes. Not sure if it's just the lighting or if the color of mine are much more red than mahogany.
