The building of Pea Palace(Pic Heavy)

This picture was taken in front of the corner Bronze pen.You will see I nailed a 2x4" all along under the rafters as a nailing point for wall studs and to secure the welded wire to.You can see the gap between my board and the width of the 2x6" rafter.I'm using OSB to close these openings in as well.
One thing here on BYC that really roasts my peanuts is when someone writes how a varmit got in their building and wiped out birds.Or when birds have been killed in flight pens.My feelings are that if your taking a bird that is not domesticated,,providing all it's food and water and health requirements, you should also ensure it's safety.Granted not all peafowl chummy up easily to people but we choose to keep them for their beauty,And keeping them safe while in a cage, flight pen or aviary should rank right up there with everything else. They are basically defensless against any animal attack especially after dark. There are so many ways at everyones disposal to ensure their birds are not victims of an overnight coyote feeding frenzy or stray dog attack or minks.I still am not 100% varmit safe in Pea Palace,,but before fall season comes to and end it will be.

Looking good, what was the building used for before the peas took over?

Zazouse,,the building WAS built new just 4 Pea Palace peas,,,,,goto page 1 of this thread and you can see it when I still didn't have all the sheet metal on the roof. Now to get at least 2 pens completed inside before fall.

Took me all day with all that I have been doing, so in and out of the house, but well worth the read!

Mine won't be nearly this nice but they will be as predator proof as I can make them. Considering my new peafowl live 2 miles from my farm now and I will be moving most all of the lumber and wire over here to build them new pens. They have been in pens less secure than what I am building and I have 2 dogs to help keep them secure, just in case.

Great going and I must say, I wish to goodness my hubby jumped in on building like you have done. Instead, he helps a little and I do the rest. Oh, well!
