Happy Thanksgiving everybody! I have been in charge of my familys thanksgiving since my mother passed away in 2010 but this year i have the pleasure of taking it easy since the fam is all out of state so i thought id help out those who are having difficulty this year! Ask me any question and ill be happy to help. I worked as a professional cake decorator for years so i know my way around pies and cakes as well.

Thanks for starting this thread! My mom usually hosts Thanksgiving, so I am going to be roasting my third turkey ever! Haven’t decided yet if I’m doing the bag or not. Thoughts? My understanding is the bag takes less time, and is a little more fool proof.

I did the bag once. Never again for me. My mother in law swears by it. It really boils down to preference. The benefitof the bag is you dont have to baste it every hour. I pop mine in the oven at 400 degrees with a wine and buttersoaked cheesecloth over the breast meat for a half hour to get it nice and crisp. Then turn her down to 350 and baste every hour. This will speed up your cooking time. I do 2.5 hours for a 25 pound bird.
