here are a couple recent ones:
i got a couple ribbons for this at a fair and local shows-

for this i was experimenting with feathers that are windblown in the opposite direction they grow in. i think it's a little smudgy and messy but i like the feather textures.

horsecrazy, that tree's so cool! it looks kinda surreal and abstract. it reminds me of Tim Burton's trees like in "the nightmare before christmas"!

Wow! Those are SO good! I'll probably never be able to do anything that good.

Yeah, I'll give you a hint as to why I draw them that way:
1.) My family is from OK where they have short, squat, twisted little trees

2.) Sometimes I express my emotions through my drawings and that is a dead tree, I drew that while tears were pouring down my face. Also, my mom says they look like fire, which ties in with anger, which I had a lot of mixed with the tears when I drew that
3.) I've always liked twisty things, I find drawing these much easier than normal trees, you know you picture an old dead tree and twisted branches is what comes to my mind. I just started drawing these, didn't even try really, the first time I did one.

thanks everyone

yeah i do that too, horsecrazy, only kind of opposite. if i'm upset about something i draw something calming like a scene of a barn and pastures. it helps a lot
