Thank you! She is a 3 month old runner mix, unfortunately not sure what the mix is. Some people guess khaki Campbell, Rouen, mallard and Orpington. I guess I’ll just have to pay extra attention to how her body and colors change!
From her posture, i say there is a lot of Runner DNA in her, the colors - could be anything in there, most likely Buff-Orpington, but then there is that white neckless…
Let's call her a »Gilberta Duck« ;)
Always preferred mixed breed animals for cats, rabbits, fish, chicken and (now) ducks. As a teen i was raising Guppies, never looked into »Standards«, just let them live and multiply and swapped fish with friends. Our Guppies were the larger, stronger and healthier than those from the professional breeders.
Compared to the pure breed cats of friends our »barn cats« were always full of life and healthy mouse hunters.
Breeding »pure« often comes with inbreeding and genetic defects, i don't like it. Just let the ducks be ducks and have fun in their lifes!

Gilberta would like to be the human duck of the BYC Duck Committee. 100% hand raised indoors from birth and will always be in my room with me and go wherever I go! She would like to teach other ducks in the committee how to work out their issues with their humans others friends as demonstrated in the pictures!! View attachment 1606831View attachment 1606832
The pictures just loaded for me! Oh my goodness! :love I wish Gilberta could teach my duckies how to get along with my doggo!

Too messy, I wouldn't want to have the run get all muddy because of the water :( I also already have 14 chickens lol
Ducks are only as messy as you let them. Proper drainage in the run, the right feeder and waterer and ducks are only a little bit messier than chickens. There's nothing one can do about the amount of food that a duck turns into poo… My experience is that ducks don't damage the grass as much as chickens, Ducks don't scratch for example.

That’s all very funny as I am an older teen and was drawn to a mix breed so the possibility of colors is endless! Even funnier, I am into fish too. I love watching what babies I get out of a mixed community tank! Why pick your pet? You don’t pick your baby! I assume Gilberta must be runner mixed with Orpington.... the white necklace I’m going to blame on her white crested runner dad. That’s the best explanation I can come up with! 3CAE778A-C77F-4812-8016-2F6E0417E935.png 7799AEAF-BB45-425B-8956-C3BCD6401F1E.jpeg
