The problem with the hunger games is the rush of distopian (Sp?) books out there right now, inspired by the hunger games. I want to say "calm down, authors. We only need one "bad society" series at a time"

Hehe. I totally get where you're coming from. lol
Maybe destopian society??? or dystopian??? I don't think anything like that is going to pass spellcheck. (Spellcheck doesn't even pass spellcheck. lol) Anyway, cockerel ... never mind, I've just been spelling it wrong.

Like once, one cat didn't get into the barn before she started having them and they were born outside, in the cold. Momma cat was to weak to move them in herself so I helped.

Oh,okay :)

1.You never know when they are going to have them
2.They just have them themselves and I don't really have any reason to watch them for hours.

Oh, well, that makes sense.

.....

As I'm reading how self-sufficient cats are when in labor, my dog is incesently digging at her whelping pool..... *scratch *scratch *scratch <ad nausium> lol
It's going to be soon, but I don't think it's going to be tonight.
My DD sat with her for hours the other night. I had to make her go to bed and she still didn't sleep well. lol

That's how it is w/ dogs mostly. Some of the small and/or line bred dogs have to be watched like hawks, b/c their instincts have been bred out of them, so they don't know what to do cleaning them off and such. And if you have a very sensitive female, she may not labor w/o her human. KWIM
Mostly, if she's comfortable where she is and she feels safe and it's fairly quiet, she doesn't have to be watched constantly.
We try to make sure we're there so we know what order the pups come out (which isn't a huge deal to us, but some ppl have preferences and we're not keeping all the puppies) and to be available if anything goes wrong; last litter, she had one that was stillborn, so I had to get DH to take it outside and get rid of it (some dogs will eat the ones that are stillborn; I guess it's natural, but with some females, you'd have to worry about them eating the rest of the pups.)
