Hey guys,
Second year having chicks, have 5 1 year old hens and just got 2 few day old chicks from a local feed store. So not a total newbie but still have plenty to learn.
The chicks are in the house, EcoGlow 600 brooder, dog kennel with cardboard on all the sides, pine bedding. Also made a diy brooder with heating pad and bent metal. They were living in a shed and there was a heat lamp but it was off when I picked them up. I’ve moved them upstairs (temp 75ish), downstairs (70ish), and even outside (temp 85-90) during the daytime. The only time they shut up is if I am holding them SOMETIMES. It varies as far as intensity, normal vs panic distress cheeping. They are eating, drinking, pooping. I added a flashlight to the corner with red sharpie on the lens tonight, saw it suggested when chicks were transitioning to a brooder plate from a lamp.
Any other suggestions? We are on night 2. My ears are ringing from all the cheeping
Our first 5 didn’t do this, only if they got stuck somewhere or 1 when she wanted attention.
Thank you in advance!!
