OMG! THE CHEEPS HAVE GOT ME!!! THE CHEEPS HAVE GOT ME!!!!

Stuck 6 farm fresh eggs under a broody & one of thems hatched!!!
Didn't know if any of them would be fertile & the shells were too dark to candle. DD1 went out to do her chores & started screaming. We thought it'd be tomorrow, if at all.... OMG! We are crying our eyes out over here!!! Please God, don't let it be a roo!

It’s like you two planned it!!! I’m getting eggs now so I’m entertained again. Each day I wonder if a new layer will join the chorus. I’ve been getting about 5 a day out of 17 pullets. I’d say there’s probably 7-9 that have laid based on egg color but not all obviously lay on the same day.

Believe it or not, I have not set my foot anywhere this season where they have baby chicks. Although back in Feb. I bought 23 babies from a gal who ordered too may from mail order. But still, wow not even going to look at babies?

Iris- what a great name. I have 6 chicks in the brooder right now and have been looking for a name for the Buff Brahma- Iris - hmm- definitely in the running.
I also decided to try my hand at button quail. Lockdown for the incubator is Saturday. Here is to crossed fingers. I only want a few and have 14 eggs. At first I only wanted a couple, then a set of 1 roo to 2 hens- no- 3 hens. Now I want a group and also a couple in another habitat- no- another group in the other habitat. Is chicken math contagious to other birds?

The Broody's name is Poppy, so DD wanted to name all the babies flower names. We love our quail! We've never hatched any. I hear they're mega tiny. I hope to see pix when they hatch.
