Love it! My DH has a book on cordwood building and I have thought it would make a great coop but have been concerned about the amount of labor. But then again, you have peaked my interest. Aren't they suppose to have good natural insulating factor? Being in MN that is always on my mind.

Yes, It is a lot of labor. I'm a plasterer by trade and expected it to be quite easy knowing all the materials and how to manipulate them. I worked early morning until late at night for two weeks straight to get it finished. Lots and lots of labor. Their insulating value varies with the thickness of the wall. In a house you build two walls with a space in between for loose fill insulation. Our walls are only five and a half inches thick, for a house it's at least 24" thick. Our coop stays plenty warm with a heat lamp on for the two or three weeks a year when we are below freezing. I started a coop page in My BYC Pages with some good info. Would always be willing to answer questions.
