The Chicken Mission - A Philanthropic Chicken Adventure

I dont require you to bring any supplies as such. I will provide all the chickens from my breeders over there.

All I ask is you maximise your luggage space with good used summer clothes, jeans and kids toys, We can give those to the needy there.
big tubs of bubble gum from wally world was a big hit with the kids on my last trip there

Any candy will be a hit with kids. So would flip flops in adult sizes 6-9 but we can get them there
i think the gum was $7 for a one gallon tub

i stashed 2 in my bag along with a 1/2 gallon of Jack for Papa

A few months back local BYCers in Souther California got together for a meet-up hosted by @OffGridMAMA and I collected clothing to be sent over under the banner of the "Chicken Mission"

The first boxes of clothes that were given to me at the meet-up arrived in the Philippines last Friday. The remainder will arrive at the end of this month.

Altogether I shipped more than 300lbs of clothing and shoes from generous BYCers.

A huge thank you my friends.

The clothes will be dispersed to The Holy Infant Orphanage in Bacolod and to needy locals.

Clothes you consider worn may still have many many more wears in them. Stains that you thought may be indelable can be removed with persistance by someone who would value the shirt or trousers. Scuffs on a shoe are not a reason to hold back. These people literally have two or three shirts and pairs of shorts to their names.

I ship the clothes at my expense and will not sell nor profit from anything ever donated to the cause. I will continue to ship boxes each month as my budget allows and peoples generousity continues.

Thanks

Oz

Oz, Have you considered adding rabbits to the farm there? There are ways to inexpensively house and raise them in warm climates and they are a great renewable protein source.

Have you looked into the baled clothing that Value Village and other second hand stores sell by the pound? My DIL works in their international shipping department in Seattle. They ship clothing all over the world.

Right now I am shipping about 500lb a year with just donations.

There are many stores in the markets that buy clothes like that and sell them but currently I have a great supply just from my BYC friends.

That is great. I wish I could help in some way but I'm a starving college student at this time. Oh well someday I will be able to help.
