the chicken squat?

Do roosters do the chicken squat also? I mean is it a "you're the boss" kind of thing or just something hens do? Thanks!

1 of my 3 roosters does a squat when he's roosting and I try to pet him. I think it's more to avoid my touch then actually squating, I hope.

The squat that I've seen is a hen only thing. They seem to do it when I reach down to pick them up, so maybe it's an instinct that kicks in when a rooster (or me) is perceived as over powering them.
