The city has come.

I hate hypocrites so much, I can do it but you cant...

If i was the judge id dismiss it. But if you did end up losing, i'd turn around and report your neighbors who reported you for the same thing. eye for a eye.

So I live in a farming type town in Idaho. Tiny town. Everyone has chickens, and I mean everyone. I bought a house here because it was a farm town and was thrilled. It didn't even occur to me to check if I could have chickens here, I mean hello there's 30 sheep across the street? EVERYONE has chickens? The lady across the street has a bunch down the road there's like 50..it seemed impossible they had a rule against chickens.

Well I moved in next to satan's neighbors. It turns out you can't have chickens in this town even though everyone does. Even satan's neighbors have chickens, and they have goats, which are skinny and not fed enough.

2 years in and satan's neighbors called the city. They wrote a letter. We're going to try to fight it. But I don't know what to do and I'm utterly horrified. They want the "farm animals" gone in a month. I am not getting rid of my chickens.

I'd appreciate any thoughts as to how to fight these jerks.

take several photo's up and down your road at everyone with farm animals be it chcikens, goats or camels you need evidence against all the neighbors do you keep your clean and tidy take photo's of your coop whatever

I guess a question yet to be asked is....
Do you have a rooster?

If you do and no one else does that may be why you were reported and not them.
We do and so do others.

This comes down to we simply don't like eachother and they want to pick on us. This neighbor and us have gotten so bad cops were involved before. They've called the fire department TWICE because of legal burning of leaves on our property, even though they also burn. They didn't like the smoke, but THEY can burn, just WE can't. They're schoolyard bullies, looking for whatever they can to do to be nasty to us. They shot our cat with a pellet gun. We don't have any proof but my boyfriend was outside, and they didn't know and he heard the whole thing happen. He's even threatened to chop down our fence.

Everything is kept up well. Our birds free range. Yard is securely fenced with a 6 foot privacy fence. The neighbors look OVER it a lot and get in their upstairs and look out the windows.

Is this a township or city or county zoning issue? If there are rules prohibiting livestock or farm animals in your county and other citizens posses livestock and farm animals, you can not be singled out and discriminated against.
Many times there are special use permits granted by a local township to use your land to raise livestock and farm animals. How many acres do you have? What is the zoned for,
agricultural, forestry, recreational or residential? Depending on what your property is zoned that will dictate whether you can house these animals on your property with special permits. I live in Wisconsin and we have to go in front of a board to apply for the special use permit's. Find out if there are any restrictions and what the dates were of when that restriction of livestock went into to effect. In case your neighbors may have been grandfathered in, if they possess these animals before they pass the new ruling. If you came along and purchased and put animals on after the new rules then you would have to adhere to those rules because you came after the ruling. If every one is breaking the rules you could go and complain to have everyone to remove all their animals. Then everyone might just shut up.

It's a city issue. The city has some really wonky rules that say you can only have farm animals (including chickens and rabbits) if you have 25,000 square foot lot or more and the rules are very strict within that as well. Now my lot is not quite that big but it's still plenty large for my chickens to live on comfortably. The ONLY reason we got reported is because we do not get along with one of our neighbors (there's been police involved before).

I know ONE neighbor who was grandfathered. The others have not been as far as I know, and I know for SURE there's at least one who's brand new to the area who has chickens only one door down in a duplex.

I am zoned residential and living in a home built in the year 1900. My home is ancient. My neighborhood is old. I think my lot is around 1/2 acre.
