Ok well I went outside to take some pictures, and I was doing everything I could to get their attention I was whistling and they would look at me like WTH. Then I tried a cooing thing and they all puffed up their neck feathers and made a "pea-onk" noise and they did it for a while too. It was the coolest noise I ever heard them make, it wasn't the loud scream but a soothing honk and they all did it at once.

Anyway here are some pictures from today, I saw a bunch of mosquitos flying around thier water, so I put a pump in their water to not only keep it clean but the water wouldn't be standing still.

Here is my white peahen or peacock checking out the new water system.

Here is where they started to make the noise they all left the shelter and made the noise all over the pen.

Then I snapped a picture before she went out with her neck feathers puffed out...

I also built them a much bigger pen behind their pen. I came across some free netting and couldn't resist building on

I will also be getting some new additions, a blackshoulder peacock and a purple blackshoulder peahen, plus he will get me a free midnight male. I will probally not keep the midnight as I already have a white eyed midnight...

Wow! What beautiful birds you have! I love it when I find my flock doing new things, it makes me feel like a great caregiver!

It's so fun when they explore. They act so much like my cats XD All wide eyed and omgosh what is all of this!!!

If they're yearlings (and they look like yearlings), they'll continue to make that PEAHONK noise all the time til the boys figure out how to scream "HELP ME" in a ladylike voice (at least that's what it sounds like to me *giggle*). It's sort of a "yee-awww" noise, and it's awesome. I'm excited for my yearlings to figure this out next summer.

its funny i was going to post today and ask what the "pee-onk" noise was all about. my pea hen has been doing that more often lately. i have heard her do it before but it seemed like maybe it was when she was spooked or something, but now shes doing it every morning

lol early too.. nothing seems to happen to spook her so i guess its just a funny noise they make! mine are yearlings too and this is my first year with them. always learning!!!

pretty birds! i wish i had a white pea!!

My peahen does it every time I walk out of line of sight of her, like she is saying NO COME BACK! She was really upset when we took her brother away (he's not gone permanently, just has a vet visit for surgery) and wandered the pen honking and looking for him.

I wish, we could record their noises and post them here. Who is that beautiful boy? What kind is he?

He is a Midnight White eye peacock he is 2yrs old, he was allot prettier but he started loosing allot of his tail feathers last week I have about 20-30 collected. I heard my white peahen make that noise when I first got her and she hopped out of the box. Both my peahens are yearlings as well. Now that you mention it Kedreeva they do remind me of cats LOL
