Whats the '646' for on the stang?

I'm going to miss the Crown Vics. I get to drive one or two of the last 5 on the PD force here every Monday. Same 4.6 V8 in my F150 but in a little boat car. I also just like the sound it makes more than the Chargers. The Chargers also feel more cheap than the Vics.
I too owned a Jeep Cherokee. But alas the mpg was so bad I bought another car. Subaru Outback Legacy (sedan). It snows so much here that I remember one week it was snowing non stop and my Jeep never left 4 hi. I got 9MPG. Least in my Subaru (although not a manly car) I can have lot's of fun sliding around and still get 20MPG.

What engine is in that stang? And kudos for not getting the Compass.

A besides, the kind of chicks we poultrimen would be attracted to are more drawn to heavy trucks than muscle cars. Let's face it - City boys drive muscle cars, too. I know. It's a shame. A dirty, cryin shame.

My stang (the silver one) is a authentic Saleen S281. The 646 is the Saleen registration number. Saleen made about 1000 cars a year at that time and they numbered each one. Sometimes they skipped numbers but this one is roughly the 646th car they built in 02. It has a supercharged 4.7 V8 2-valve engine with several modifications and a diablo tune. Roughly 450 RWHP. It will push your eyes into the back of your head and it sounds like Thor's hammer. It's fun.

No, This one came up on autotrader when I was looking for one. Drove to Rhode Island to look at it. It was love at first site. My wife is jealous.

Yes! Where did they get the 4.7 from? I know Ford makes the 4.6 so did Saleen take the block and bore it or is this engine built from scratch by Saleen? Not to mention your almost at 100 horse a liter. I love the Ford 4.6 but I also own it and would be amazed it Saleen went off that base block and got that much power out of it. Supercharger or not, your still talking about high pressures for that little block.
