one nice thing about it, is if you point your gun at someone on the opposite side as you, the username won't pop up above their head, so its hard to tell if someones dead or alive at a distance.
like, once, i was running alone into a town. i was on the outskirts, and there was a row of bushes, then a few scattered bushes all the way into town. i was running to one of the scattered bushes and all of a sudden i got shot by obviously the machine gun on an unseen tank. i contniued jogging for 5 more steps and got shot again! (amazingly i was still alive, but barley. that only happened to me one other time in my whole roughly 6 month battleground europe career) i then quickly droped to the ground a few feet from the bush. a few shots hit the ground around me, but then stopped. 5 minutes passed and still no more shots at me. i crawled forward into the bush and waited a few mire minutes. i the proceeded into town where i was shot a third time and died. PLAYING DEAD WORKS!
i was laughing my head off after i died when that happened!
then there was that one time when i shot the pilot in a stuka dive bomber plane that was in mid-dive with a .302 cal. rifle

i've got tons of true tales from playing battleground europe
(well, maybe not tons)
like when i camped in a church tower and shot a british infantryman from roughly 800m away with a german anti-tank rifle without a scope! they were the size of ants from that distance

but let me tell ya one thing; it will probably be confusing and frustrating the first day or 2 you play
unlike most FPSes, it has a huge map where many different things may be going on anywhere, so in a usual battle, you won't have to worry about so many ei (common abbreviation in battleground europe that means "enemy infantry") that you just die anywhere and everywhere you go. however, because of this, you'll have to get used to waiting and not expect everything to come at you very quickly like COD
plus, you have to know what to use when. say you join a mission where you and some other guys spawn 2km from a city after putting up a FRU. the town is rather small. unless you pay to play, you'll usually be limited to riflemen or SMGer. what do you choose? riflemen are good in a ranged fight, which would fit this context because you spawn 2km from the town. however, what if you manage to run all the way inside the town and not get caught? you're no longer in a ranged fight and now have the disadvantage because you have a slow firing bolt-action rifle. If you had a Sub-machine gun, you'd have rate-of-fire advantage in such close proximity. but SMGs are usually not accurate past 100m.
you have to know these things pretty well before you become really susseful. but you don't have to worry about the 'rifle vs. SMG' until you get to the second rank, as people in the first rank atre limited to just riflemen
