that's what my girlies must be thinking as they nearly bombard me when I go to visit them. I will be the first to admit, these girls are some seriously spoiled britches.

I have two separate flocks(about a month apart in age) right now one flock free ranges all day and the others play in the run for now until they get big enough to not fit through the fence to the neighbors.

My big girls were spoiled from day one, I once was referred to(cause chickens can talk) as the "treat lady", they got so used to me bringing them canteloupe and strawberries, now they make a B line straight for me when they see me outside, now I think I'm the "crack lady". I also have a golden retriever who follows me everywhere I go, so just to go dump something in the compost, or check on the coop, etc., we form a line, me, dog and six chickens. and since I talk to them all as though they're human, my neighbors must think I'm the one getting a "fix"

these are some of the reactions I get from the chickies when mama's got a handful of goodies:

So I wonder, what treats do your ladies/roos go crazy for?

I could probably bring a handful of SAND and they'd still go nuts upon my arrival. They always run to the gate whenever I open the back door; sometimes I don't have treats for them.

But, most of the time I toss some BOSS over the fence into their run. Alternately, I'll go into the run with shredded mozzarella cheese in my hands for them. When I don't have anything, I will at least bend down and pull up some short, new grass blades to toss over the fence for them.

They must remember back to brooder days, when I gave them all sorts of treats: mealworms, yoghurt, peas, the shredded cheese.

Occasionally I'll toss cat kibble over the fence for them, but the chickens don't care very much for it. The DUCKS, on the other hand, love it, so it doesn't go to waste.

And once a week I put a head of cabbage on a rope and hang it up for Tether Cabbage games.

I've heard about the cabbage thing, haven't tried it yet though. I think I'm gonna keep that secret in my back pocket for the winter time so they dont get bored being cooped up.

The weather's been so nice here that I find every excuse to go outside, it's so pleasant having them waddle their lil butts up to say "hi" (or maybe more like "whatcha got for me lady?"

My chickens turn into velociraptors when I bring them spinach

I gotta try the cabbage thing for sure!!

My two girls are turning 1 this summer, so I'm starting to have fun seeing what treats they really like. Spinach is big, & I'm glad since my vet told me to feed it to them for all the vitamins it has. Top on their list right now though, which isn't easy to get, are grubs & crickets. Spent 15 minutes in the garden the other day to find a whopping SEVEN grubs! Woohoo!! And how quick were they gone - 10 seconds. I did give them a bowl of carrots, strawberries, & tomatos the other day for the first time & they LOVED it. So that will probably be more common than the bugs, especially when we have leftover salad.
