The Crying Game II - unexpected rooster!

When Mrs. Schmellman started to grow a suspiciously large comb and wattles, "she" was only six weeks old and young enough to neuter. Mr. Schmellman, the "nooster," is doing fine.

Now, at the advanced age of three months (too old to neuter safely), it appears that ZsaZsa is not who she seemed... A gorgeous Araucana, she does not have a large comb or wattles to judge by. But she does have a spectacular cockadoodledoo. Oh boy.

So now that we know ZsaZsa is a rooster (henceforth to be known as Mr. Gabor), my questions are: I know it's okay to eat fertilized eggs, but do I need to worry about the eggs continuing to develop once I collect them? I'm assuming it has to be pretty warm and the fridge should stop the process...I hope? (We don't/can't eat the eggs immediately - they'll sit in the fridge for a week or more.)

And do you think my rooster will fight with my nooster? There are four hens and they live in a big 30x60' enclosure with two coops.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Collect the eggs daily and refrigerate them and you will never be able to tell the difference between your fertile and infertile eggs.

You'll have to wait and see if your nooster and rooster will bicker - they may be just fine together, especially if the caponizing job done on nooster was thorough.

The fertilized eggs will not develop while refrigerated.
