it is low... I know I need to make it longer as well... BUT... Im thinking that there isn't a way that I can clean in there right? I mean how in the world would I get poop out? how often do you clean out the run from poop anyways?

what can I do to make this run a convenient run?

I dont think we will be moving it because its so darn heavy!!! like super heavy and there are no wheels.... I also need to add on to the run so there isn't really a way to add on to the run without making it completely unmovable...

If you will be adding a new run is there any way you can make it tall enough to stand in with a door for easy access? Or, if it will be a short run then maybe you could make a hinged top that could swing out of the way so that you may clean the run from the top.

but, if you have a door in the top how do you clean the rest of it in there? duck down and army crawl and clean out? LOL I just can't picture it. clearly Im new at this

I think it needs to be taller personally, but that means more materials and we dont have much $ to spare at the moment... ya know? hmmm!!!

A couple ideas. The first would be to pull it aside to clean and then put it back. If it's heavy maybe you can pull it with your car or a lawnmower or something ?

The second idea is to detach the four 2x4's from the top. attach two more 2x4's running lengthwise and put a couple hinges on one side and a latch on the other. When you need to get in there just unlatch and lift the roof up like a door.

i would take the three 2 x 4's in the middle off and build a door there like the previous post suggested. it would only cost you maybe 4 new 2 x 4's @ around $2.75 each. grab two door hinges and a prop stick.....wallah!

Yup, that's what I'm think'n too. Take out those three middle 2x4's and make a door there. Leave the others as framing. Basically, nearly the whole top of the run lifts off. It's not ideal, but it will work. 2x4's aren't too expensive either.

Also, have you considered closing up those holes where the corregated roofing meets the wall? If know it's a goofy shape and will be a hassle, but if it were me, I'd figure something out.

I would take the two outer 2x4's loose and raise them up to head level. And make yourself an entry door. Looking at about 20 bucks in wood.

I think I would just cut it free from the rest of the building, so it would be easly to flip over/hose out and the run could easily be raked, etc. Then set it flush with the building-the chickens wouldn't be able to move it, would they?

Or do you have those super strong chickens...what do they call them? Oh, yeah...
