My little baby quail hatched out... the other eggs I set ended up being infertile so he was all alone. He was calling out to me the first night and I couldn't sit with him all night, so I gave him a "momma"... now he's happy. He sits on "momma's" back and huddles under her arm when he gets scared...

We had to do the same thing with Fudge before Shadow moved in. Only ours was just a wadded-up hand towel. Thank goodness DH thought of it though, the peeping was pitiful.

Adorable! It works. I had a lone chick hatch and a beanie baby bunny was its best friend!

Scared baby quail and baby turkey noises are nature's worst noises...ever. They even beat that noise Ace Ventura makes.

Our lone chx loved to cuddle into a fur mitten.

My lone duckling hatches got a turkey feather duster taped to the side of their brooder and a mirror. It gave them something to snuggle on and a "friend" to talk to when I wasn't there.

That is so adorable! Wifezilla's mirror idea is a really good one too. I will have to try that if I ever have a lone baby.
