This morning we all were awaken to my DD screaming and crying that FLY Paper was stuck on our chicken. I had put the fly paper in months ago and think the cooler weather made the nail/wood shrink and fall out.
We had to bathe her, soak the sticky fly paper in canola oil, and shampoo her after. She's doing fine...
BUT I just thought I'd share my experience with this sticky substance.
I never caught a fly on it because I used DE...so I think I'll kick this habit of hanging them for now.

We freed a bat from one of those sticky mouse traps. I didn't think to use the oil. He did fly away though...hope the poor guy made it.

We've caught all of the above plus a snake or two. One was stuck pretty good and the other was able to shed its way off the trap.

We try to place the traps were the kids shouldn't be but I have to admit that it is funny to watch them try to shake the traps off...silly girls won't let you catch them to help them out. Oh well. Live and learn.

LMAO.....i do not allow fly paper around here. I am usually the only thing to get stuck to it. DH and DD could tell you stories of my unbelievable abilities to get my hair tangled up in it from a miraculous mile away

Yuck, this whole post has given me flashbacks! My parents used to use it, and countless times I remember getting it caught in my hair...

The thing that stays with me isn't the glue in my hair.. it's all the dead flies STUCK TO MY HEAD!

BLECH! I don't use them. I'd rather use a flyswatter, although we didn't have much of a fly population this year, either. Not sure what I would have done if it was a rainy summer and there was a ton of them.

After my own fun with fly paper, I'm 'sticking' to the water/bait/jar traps.

You can hang those high enough so the chickens don't peck them and they really work (but they do stink, so best to use outside the coop)
