The darkest Egg....

    What breed of Chicken lays the darkest egg? Is it the Copper Maran, Black, Blue or Cuckoo Maran or the Welsummes?

    As far as I know the black coppers lay the darkest. Of course some lines will lay darker than others.

    marans in general depends on the birds history. egg color is a bread trait, just like feathers

    Penescendas and Marans.

    Welsummers, no, they normally are not DARK like Marans but different ranges of terra cotta eggs.
