"A-A kelpie?" Laidan said, her face paleing. She had heard about kelpies... Laidan slowly began to back away towards the village, stuttering quietly to herself. "P-P-Please, d-d-don't eat me!" She breathed.

I'm not that thick headed, I know that. But you're letting a random villager know about us. She'll probably spread the word that a herd of Kelpies is living beside their village.
