The day has come, Larry has to go - UPDATE - The new man !!!!!!

i had to rehome roosters that kept attacking my 10 year old, she is small weighs about 65 lob, would never go after us adults. Had to go, she was afraid to go in the yard. we now have a lovely deleware and and loud friendly gray silkie.

It is done !!!! He is all ready to go on the bbq with a beer can in his butt. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. Once the head is off it is kind of easy.
We will see how Larry tastes. I am glad it is over and I don't have to stand guard in the backyard when my sons are outside. Hopefully our next Roo will be better. Because I am sure at some point again we will end up with one, even if not wanted.
I will miss his cockadoodldoo, I loved to hear it. Reminded me of my childhood on my grandmas farm.

Small children should never be around roosters. Their sudden, jerky movements put roosters on edge and a rooster can take out a child's eye the first time he attacks. It's not unusual for a peaceable rooster to attack a child when he's never shown aggression to an adult. Just a good policy to keep small kids away from the roosters. Hope he tastes good (the rooster, not the child, LOL).

i have never met an aggressive rooster but they sound like a pain. i have a silkie and he is a real sweetie pie:)

At least you get to eat yours. Our only aggressive roo attacked my then 2year old son (7years ago). My husband kicked the roo away, grabbed our son and tucked him under his arm, kept him there until he got the shotgun and shot the rooster. What a MESS! Sharp learning curve at our place......but you gotta protect the littles. And yeah, I think the irritating birds have more flavor

I've only had one roo since this is my first year raising chickens. It seems to me the foo foo pretty roosters are the nice one (that's just my guess). Mine was a big white leghorn. Beautiful bird but oh so mean. I miss hearing him crow at all hours of the day and night, but at least we can walk into the yard now and not worry about anyone else being attacked.

We had him last night with a bud light up his ass on the bbq. Quite tasty !!!! Our first non-store chicken, a little bit tougher but we enjoyed it
