Hi everyone! Just sharing my excitement if I may...

I have 6 pullets of the same age, five of which have started laying (and two of those started this week).

This morning I collected 4 eggs.

This afternoon when I went to check on the girls, the final RIR was inspecting the nest box, and Orpy (who didn't lay this morning) was sitting on the nest.

Granted, she jumped up when she saw the bread roll in my hand, and willingly went outside to range with the others.

But.... I sense the official Day of 6 Eggs is approaching!

(Quietly rejoicing to myself....at one point I was convinced we had 7 roosters, lol!)

Update: They did it! Two eggs were laid this afternoon, bringing my total to 6 eggs from 6 pullets today.

I am such a proud chicken Mama! What such good girls I have :)

I've got some 8-12 week old pullets, even though its not even close to laying time I am excited for when the time comes! Did you take pictures of your eggs? Might want to take a few for good memories and keepsake kinda thing, and to show to your chicken friends here online! :D

Subhanalah, I think my family think I'm nuts too! I rang my Dad today to tell him it's "The Day of 6 Eggs" and he was like "Huh?!"

OrganicChicken, I didn't take any pics as we have been getting eggs for a few weeks now - albeit not from the one that laid her first egg today.

When I got my very first egg a few weeks ago it didn't last long enough to take a picture! I ran it back to the house, showed hubby, cooked it up and ate it within about 5 minutes!

Excited much, lol.

It's been a good day today :)

Krista.

Ah yes! Congrats!!
It's an 8 egg day here....happens very rarely as some of my hens are older.

Know that, even with 1st year layers, you might not get 6 eggs everyday.
