The Deed is Done

We now have 18 chickens resting in the fridge. We went ahead and skinned 15 and only plucked 3. They were filthy, and I am glad to be rid of the skin. They just flat out could not walk or move or anything. They were 8 weeks old today (or yesterday if we count shipping!)
They were about 5-5.5 lbs average butchered weight, We had a 6.4 lbs. one, and one that was only 4.5 lbs.

I am relieved and it went a lot better than I thought! I didn't freak out, but I am grateful for the expierience (sp?)

My hubby and neighbor did it! I waited patiently inside with the blinds pulled

-- They broke the necks, then hung upside down, and cut off the heads to let them bleed out. The wish they would have used a killing cone, because of the amount of broken wings. But we were learning as we went!

What type of meat birds were they?

They are cornish x from belt hatcheries.
