We found an egg from Peppercorn today.
Hidden.
In the tack room.

I guess I can’t expect too much from ladies who choose to drink mud, though.

I am absolutely enamored with Sage’s cute floppy comb.

They’re still not consistently returning to the coop to lay, so they’ve only been getting a few hours to free range in the evening. They are not pleased with this, but have been getting extra snacks as compensation.

It always seems to take new layers time to figure out where they should be laying. I just found an egg from an experienced layer in the middle of the coop floor this morning! I tried to explain that wasn't were eggs are supposed to be laid, but they were more interested in getting outside. Silly girls.

Can you come photograph my chickens? I love, love, love your chick pics!

Long time, no post! We finally had a nice warm day, so got some new pictures of the girls. Many a peanut and grape were eaten!

In bittersweet news, my cast will be changing in the coming months. I have seven pure Ameraucana eggs coming up n a week, and an assortment of babies coming in April, so things will be shuffling around a bit. I’m going to be gradually aiming towards keeping and producing smaller combed birds so we don’t have to deal with any more frost bitten combs! Ironically, two of my larger combed birds will be staying, but I just can’t bear to let them go.
