The Duck Thread

We found a massive tomato horn worm in our garden this year. Had to be 4-5 inches long with a very large thorn on the butt. Chickens wouldn't touch it (whimps) I tossed it to the ducks thinking they would pulp it up. One of my drakes must have swallowed it whole, because I never could find it in the little weedy patch where they were. He just waddled off all happy and content. So apparently ducks have stomachs of steel.

After the duck squad has patrolled, the yard is completely devoid of alien life.

Oh my gosh......this made me laugh.

I had both toads and peepers. I've been watching them for years.

I also wish the ducks would eat the rabbit that is inside the privacy fence. I'm probably going to have to get a bunch of grandkids together and open the gate to let them chase it out. Stupid things get in when they are tiny enough to fit through the gap in the gate. Then they get too fat to get back out and eat my garden full time.

I hear rabbit isn't bad for eating.

I had asked my husband pretty much every night after he would come back from putting the birds in "is she back?" Last night was actually the first night i didn't ask and as we were already falling asleep with the lights out and everything he was like "oh!! I forgot to tell you, the duck came back!!"

I was all up like " what? ! She is! Omg!!"

Awesome news are you going to clip a wing now to keep her home?

Tomato horn worms I cannot pick up with out gloves they give me the hebbie jebbies [gross me out] but my ducks love them and a few of my LF hens will take on the challenge too.

Oh this is funny, both of you talking about horn worms and rabbits and wimpy chickens and duck squads eating alien life. I love BYC.

That would make me want to do something similar but tell Scott, "Oh, btw, I forgot to tell you I wrecked your truck."

I wrecked his truck like 5times back when we were still dating though lol. He's a sweetheart, he's just easily distracted/confused/forgetful. ...dude that's not good he's an engineer and taking care of the whole farm pretty much on his own right now 0_0...

Just had a "this IS my circus and monkey" moment LOL!!!

I'm no better either so I have no idea how we're pulling this off . Im really laughing at myself right now

I love the farm life ♡

Oh! I probably should huh?? ... I hadn't thought of that. I don't know if I could. Hmmm it doesn't hurt or anything, rights, just like a hair cut....

I guess she could run into trouble if she keeps flying away, maybe I should.

Especially if she lands in someones back yard with dogs. too many other possibilities also.
Here is the best guide i know of I use this one with My Scovy's

More probable that she runs into a pack of coyotes I think. (We're in the middle of nowhere and we happen to be the "crazy dog people" of the area lol)

So the green and yellow right?

I wonder if she'll let me. The muscovy pack has disliked being handled since they were ducklings.
