A depressed bird dies very fast.

I agree with that. We are doing all that we can to ensure he's not lonely or sad. He has a buddy, and they seem quite content together. We did put a bandage and some neosporin on the wing because he started tearing at it and made a sore. It's seems healthy otherwise so now it's a waiting game.

So what do you all think about this 'ling? Labeled Indian runner at Rural King, but I believe he's a runner mix or something else entirely. No way it's full runner. I've raised runners ducklings and you can see the differences from day one. This one to me looks pekin or some other white duck. It may be half runner, as it does stand somewhat upright, but he's much bigger than is buddy, his beak is dished more, his head is round and doesn't stand as tall. Ideas? Just curious, he's cute either way ;)

My husband really did good. I'm the kind of girl that will take surprise ducks over flowers or chocolate any day! <3

Oh My! So gorgeous! I think you are right it's definitely a cross breed. It's a little too round and not standing up enough to be a runner. Pekin cross would be my bet too. Either way your husband did very well

My husband has lost it! He came home with a chick and two ducklings from the feed store, and is getting two Guinea chicks from his mom. I'm going to be drowning in birds!

But get a load of these 'lings! They were labeled Indian runners, and one of them is definitely fawn/white runner. The other doesn't look so runner-ish to me. Looks more pekin or white layer. Either way, they're cute! And I won't let myself name them until I know if they're girls lol.

Pics for everyone!!

On a sadder note, here are these two in a separate carrier. The one in the back has the broken wing. It's eating and drinking still, but it's wing and side are swollen with infection. The feathers on its wing appear to be falling out. It also hasn't grown much at all. The chick in front is a replacement chick for broken wing, since it is likely he won't last much longer. Replacement chick is very small so he is separated from the big ones for now and offers company for broken wing.

Sooo cute!

The poultry spray would be better for him with ointment oragno oil is good for wounds so is lemon oil.lemon oil stops bleeding and is good on infections.so is lavender oil. I get mine at sprouts farmers market or you can find different venders who sell it.

I will get pictures one day! I can't find my camera battery. . .I charged the battery the other week, but I don't know where the battery went :/ I missed out on getting Pinewood Derby pictures of my kids this weekend as well.
