The Duck Thread

Hi, I have duck and chicken eggs in my incubator, all growing well. Lockdown will be tomorrow evening for the chicken eggs which I am moving to another incubator.
As it's my first time with ducks, (I believe they will take another 6 or 7 days to hatch), will it be the same 3 day lockdown for them and will the temp or humidity need to be any different than for chicken eggs?

I am not a hatcher, but yes, I think it is different. There is a thread called When to Worry or something like that - there is hatching talk there. Lacrystol has been very helpful. Please get the info for ducklings right away, it can get dicey if the humidity isn't right. And it takes ducklings a while to finish hatching once they start - from what I have read here.

Are the ducks calls? Those can be even trickier.

is 22% protein crumbles ok for one bag? its the only feed my local Orschlen's offers thats recommended for ducks. things i've read say 20% or 21+% for 3 weeks the go to lower protein food. i only have 6 ducklings so i supposing this 40lb bag will last more then 3 weeks and just wanna know if it ok to use the bag then maybe switch to 18% chicks crumbles or should maybe mix in a bag of the chick crumbles to cut the protein down to 20%?

You can also mix oatmeal into the 22% to cut down the protein reg oatmeal not instant. or chick crumbles which ever you prefer.
