The Duck Thread

Off topic... However my 2 pekin ducks are 1 month old today. I posted recently on what would be best for feed. Iv been doing the dumor chick started. But at a month old is there something better? I plan on going to the store shortly!
What a precious avatar.. Until laying age don't feed layer but check out Purina Flock Raiser it can be fed from hatch till end of life and is formulated for all poultry. You can even feed it to layers and just add Oyster shell on the side.

In the past couple days I have noticed that a couple of my ducks are doing a head bob thing... is that apart of their communication or is it a make duck thing? They are only 9 weeks old.

Part of the communication strategy used by all, at least that's what I've observed as well

I wasn't sure. I know one of them is a male Rouen (green bill, raspy quack & curled tail feather). But I am not sure about the gender of the other one that head bobs back (a Peking), sometimes loud quack sometimes raspy and no curled tail feather.

Loud quack could mean a female. In couple of weeks I guess you'll know for sure if the tail feather doesn't curl and eggs start coming

Speaking of precious avatars, yours is too. Sweet faced goose.
