The Duck Thread

I just got a baby runner & a baby magpie. How do I deal with the grit thing when it's time switch to older duck food? I am a beginner. So far so good. They are 3 weeks old

I hope not, we don't have a male and my dogs will eat any eggs they find in the yard. I'm surprised they didn't find these but they haven't been out much with all the mud and rain.

Well, without a male, at least the eggs won't hatch! lol. Sorry I can't help you with what to do about her laying in the yard though....

My Opie started out as Hope lol My Opies name came from Andy Griffin show your probably way to young to remember.

Only reason I know of Sons of Anarchy is my son asked me to go on ebay and bye the DVD's for him.

I think we have at least one more Opie, too. Maybe @suzy4027 or @Amykins? Very glad I'm not the only one that remembers The Andy Griffith Show! Happy early bday to you @WVduckchick !!

Not sure what you mean by "the grit thing", but I keep grit available all the time in a separate dish. The ducks know when they need it and take nibbles from the dish then. Congrats on the babies!

Thanks. That's what I needed to know. I didn't know if I had to mix it in or keep it in a different dish.I will have lots of questions along this exciting duck journey. Thankful for this page.

Nope, no hatching eggs. BUT that would be super cute... ;) she did finally lay in the house while locked in. I let her out after and she never went back to check on it so I dunno. Ducks are so darn fickle! I'm keeping her little nesting spot in the yard fenced off for a while. I will admit it's a great stop and perfect for a nest, but totally not happening.
