I NEED HELP IMMEDIATELY!!!

We just put out our one month old welsh harlequin ducklings out in the play pen with a shallow pool (like we do all the time) and my husband came running in the house and said 3 out of 10 of them were hanging their heads and wouldn't stand up. In the last 10 minutes, one has died and two others are still acting strange! I have no idea what's going on!!!!

One more has died and a few more are acting weird. I'm freaking. Out. I have no idea what has happened!!!

Did you have them on grass where they could have been exposed to toxins/pesticides/etc?

I have no idea. That crossed my mind but it's so hot out today. They have been out in the same conditions before and have done great. I have them under the heat lamp in their brooder now and the healthy ones are fluffing out but the one other is still acting funny and twitchy. Can't keep it's head up

Huh, how weird. :hugs
how long were they out? Were they still in the water when he went out? Is there a mom to give then the oil to float? Any chemicals near by?

So they were wet?

-Kathy

They were. I had them in a roasting pan with a couple inches of water and they went for a quick dip. They do everyday. Today is the hottest day so far. One is definitely dead but the other one that I thought was dead too is starting to stand but is so out of it. Is it possible they got tired and trampled on by he others and are just too weak now?

Usually I have them out all day if it's warm enough. They have access to swim and it's shallow enough that they get out and fluff out. It is so shallow that they usually splash all the water out in a minute or two and then I don't refill it until later in the day. Today they were only out for 10-15 minutes! They don't have a mother and we don't use chemicals or pesticides. We're an organic, chemical free household

I have no ideas to offer, but I am very sorry!
