The three cuties running with our other duck's this afternoon for the first time.. they are resting now.. still no name's

Duck drama here this morning!! Those new little brat's ate our duck egg!!
If they think they can do that they have another thing coming! I will have to put up their enclosed area.. Which I don't want to do..so far they are all getting along fine.. Meaning no blood or our drake Rick is not chasing them.. We only have Lauren that is laying..

What are those dark speckled eggs?

Those are jumbo quail egg's from another BYC member @Sill she is close and a DF. The ones that are the same size are from another friend that rescues wild bird's for rehab.. But if they are not able to be returned to the wild she keep's them & they have their forever home with her..they. I wanted to see them so one day she brought them to us.. I cooked them up for the dog's.. They were slimy.. But the dog's did not care..
Then the last one is a duck egg..

the big brown ones or the little brown speckled white ones?  the little ones are coturnix quail eggs....or atleast they look like coturnix quail eggs as they look just like the eggs i have in my bator

Another BYC memeber came over for the 4th of July party & the BYC seed box exchange here.. She said she one of the her quail from sill, lay's blue egg's.. How cool is that!! those little guy's lay even durring our hot months here.. Continual egg's!! Those quail do earn their keep

Absolutely gorgeous! What kind????

Muscovy.. I wish I had more time to hold them.. They are afraid of me, plus they have claws!! I get scratched up every time I hold them. NO FUN for me.. We needed to get 1-2 more hen's for our drake, or get rid of our drake.. I don't think anyone would want him? But hopefully this will solve the problem of him over breeding Lauren.. Her neck feathers are all torn off.. It's to hot to keep him separated from her now during the hot summer. During mating season I was was not keeping him away from her enough.. I don't think it would be fair to keep in a pin all day, so freezer camp if 1-2 more don't solve the problem. Or we can't re-home him to a friend. They have about 900-1000 square feet to play.. So no room for 3-4 hen's plus him.

So this is what I have done to keep my ducks kiddie pool from getting really skinny and muddy. I know they like it.

They look so happy.. We use a horse trough, but they don't swim as much as I thought they would.. What do you use your duck egg's for?? We need a few new recipes.. I think I am going to try Egg Foo Young.. Anyone try that??

We are chicken egg allergic so have completely switched to duck eggs. We use duck eggs anyplace we would use chicken eggs: scrambled, fried, poached, in fried rice, for baking (better than chicken eggs in baking!), eggs Benedict, quiche, frittatas, hard boiled, egg salad, deviled eggs or my personal favorite poached on top of spinach wilted with olive oil, onion and garlic all on top of a piece of toast. Yum!
