The Duck Thread

Has anyone ever had a duck that just doesn't lay? And yes, definitely a female. She very rarely lays though. A year old, pekin. When she does lay, she has big beautiful perfect eggs. Eats and drinks and swims. No injuries. Just doesn't lay, often....
I haven't had that problem before but I would imagine that some ducks are just better than others in the same breed. I have one large runner and a small runner. My small runner lays small eggs and takes a break often. My large runner lays pretty good sized eggs and hardly takes a break. I would imagine that she would not be a duck I would want to breed since I want good layers and wouldn't want to pass that particular trait on.

I was givin these two about a month ago when they were found alone near a river. They are definitely domestic, any ideas on what breed they are? Hens or drakes?

Look like Muscovy mixes. Very cute! Since they are mixes I'm not sure how to sex them @Miss Lydia ?
Look like full Muscovy to me, still pretty young but if both are same age then lighter one maybe drake in a few weeks you'll know for sure the drake will surpass the duck in size. and other ways of telling ducks legs are set close together under their body drake set farther apart, ducks look like they could walk on their own feet. Drakes legs will be thicker also longer through body from head to tail tip ducks bodies are round and shaped more like a foot ball. More pics of front including full body with legs and side with them standing .
