Wow! How often does she lay? I'm sorry for all the questions, that is just so amazing and interesting to me! I have to wonder why??!?!
Excellent! They have time to put together a plan. I would think they would jump on the opportunity!! Good luck!!!

Peep lays every day. I got the occasional egg during the winter after the second heat lamp was put in. She was the original duck that started me in this. She was dumped. I've narrowed her down to what I believe is mallard! She's a good mom too. She's not hand tame, but all my birds come to the shake of the treat dish! She doesn't fly away, but can fly. Her eggs are light blue and large chicken size. She's a pretty little thing. Nice bright orange bill and feet. Always looks nice and smooth. And she's a busybody! When she's not sitting, she's toddling around chatting and bossing! Her and my brown mallard females remind me of 3 little old ladies... Walking all over, gossiping and giving stink eye to the younger ones!!! Her and Big Momma (jumbo pekin, no eggs...) share mom duties. When peep wants to go somewhere, she would call Big Momma over with the babies and leave them with her. Lol, babbling! But that's Peep! I didn't realize how strange the doubles thing was until someone here told me.

I love your animal stories.. :woot. :goodpost:

My Muscovy just cracked and ate the eggs that she was brooding there due in 9 days ...... Why did she do this?

Oooo, that's not good.. Did you see the form of a duckling ? How many other duck's do you have? Maybe someone went in and layed it recently? I think that duck's have a good sense of a good egg/bad egg.. At least our chicken's do.. We have only used a incubator maybe 2x.. We let our hen's do the hatching.. I see them kicking out the bad egg's.. I always put them back to make sure, either way sure enough they were always right on about that egg.. We mark on the egg information. Like date layed & sometimes if they are similar in color , size & shape I will put the letter of the name of that hen on it.. Or your girl could of needed some protein, who knows really.. Can you post photo's?? Glad you joined in..:frow

Check out this blog on duck egg's.. Are your girl's the same age?
http://www.theenglishgroup.co.uk/blog/2012/02/23/duck-eggs/

Yes. All 19 weeks today. This morning was a definite Peking egg, much larger & more oval than the other. Thanks for the link, I am going to check it out :)

This blog listed mallards having blue egg's.. I thought they had cream colored egg's.. What do I know though, just a newbie.. Although runners have pretty colored blue egg's.. The egg's they have are really pretty.. You can also try some of the hatchery's web site for egg colors..
