All the names are so cool. Penelope is a sweet little faced duckling. Ok, Penelope, look at me that way and you can have anything you want.
I love Penelope. Look at that face!
She is as sweet as she looks too! Very spoiled but the problem is she does not know she is a duck. She was a rescue from a friends house. She was the only duckling to hatch and when she did he was out of town. We stopped over to drop off something he forgot in our truck and found her being hunted by a cat and she had clearly only hatched hours prior to us finding her.. She was supposed to go back to him when she was big enough but...she is staying here lol. She was way too much younger than the other ducklings to be put with them and we didn't have space to get her a buddy. She can see and hear the other ducks at least. A few more photos from our garden hang out time yesterday. My fiance and his dad are right next to the garden building teh duck coop..when they climbed up the ladder Oakley and Pogo got spooked and jumped in my lap. I love how sweet they are and the fact that they still see me as their safe place. I call penelope the Diva duck or the princess because she much prefers to be on my lap than to put her little diva feet on the dirt or grass LOL Penelope's favorite snuggle spot. When you can see my skin in pictures I like to let people know, I have Vitiligo (think Micheal Jackson). I wasn't burned :) People always ask if it is burns.
You are so precious!! I wish I were your neighbor. Thank you for sharing your beautiful life with us!!

:) Thank you. I wish I had some nice duck loving neighbors! Ours are not bad, they did used to have ducks and chickens but moved on from it. She did say if they wander to their yard they don't mind..bug control ;) We asked them before we got them if duck noise would bother them in the interest of keeping our only neighbors friendly!

We have lights that are in a tree close to the duck's.. We hang out front a lot so they get to eat all the night crawlers.. We have not named all of our girl's yet.. One I'm not sure of, so I am going to name that one wobbles.. :thumbsup

Here is finally a pic of our little duck family. The 3 babies are almost the size of the 3 adults now. Getting hard to tell them apart. I missed a great Kodak moment yesterday. 4 of them were swimming in their pool and created a whirlpool so they were all perfectly behind each other as the water whirled them in a circle. It was awesome and they sure were having fun. This is only a temporary pen. I think I've figured out how I can integrate them in the same area with my chickens, quail & rabbits so they can free range, but it's going to take some building to accomplish this and with temps way over 100° every day, it might be some time yet before we can do that.Neurotica is the mama duck on the left back-the one with her head & neck scrunched down. She always does that:)
