Big day for Howard! May I ask which antibiotic was recommended for dealing with the septic joint?
Since he weighs 6 pounds they gave me 22.7 mg Baytril twice per day. The tricky part will be how to i give it to him...

Aw, sorry, I recall that bumble giving him trouble. Was it the bumble that caused the septic joint? Glad you were able to get him to the vet. Do you give him the meds orally?
Speechless about Howard upright in the tub. So cute. So is your child. You rock for taking him in for help.Took Howard to an avian vet about his bumble. Turns out his joint is septicbut we have some oral antibiotics that will take care of it. He wasnt to crazy about the 1 hour drive one way at first but became my co pilot and everything was good.

Patti, their cheeks. Why are they so cute? What is it with ducks? They are so pretty.
Quote: When I give pills I open their bill/beak and place the pill as far back on the right hand side of their mouth, then watch closely to make sure they don't spit it out.

Debs thank you. I am loving all the photos of your feathered fluffers.
Crush up the baytril put in just enough water to be able to suck up in a syringe with out needle of course then give right into mouth or you might try mixing with a little gator aid to mask the taste. never force down the throat. @casportpony may have better ideas.Yes it was, or believed to be. Meds orally twice a day. Now the question is how to administer them lol.
Quote: That will work, but I think you would have to use distilled water or there is a chance that the Baytril could bind with the calcium in hard water.
