The Duck Thread

My Disco, 7 month old Khaki is having a hard time adapt to his gals. Or say they are having a hard time adapting to him. They're very territorial and bullying him. He's still in the basement at night for protection because they DO NOT want him in THEIR house. The gals are 1 1/2 years old or so. When will he start puberty and want to mate? He needs to Man-Up to these gals. I'm tired of a duck in my basement. I thought the gals would welcome him since their man was killed 3 weeks ago. They hadn't eaten much and were very scared. Now they've turned into "Cougar" bullies

I'm thinking these girls need an attitude adjustment, put them in the basement or another area and let the drake have the run of their space, then add one at a time back in to him, giving those 2 a couple days to get acquainted then add the next. He is like the un welcome guest instead of their main man. So I'm thinking they need a little help adjusting. and him being so young they can intimidate him, I see my older ducks intimidating my 6 month old drake right now because he isn't breeding yet[next spring] and they know they can.

Thats exactly what is happening with my 6 month old runner females to my Woodie pair. I split the pen in half for now and will soon add 1 runner for a while then add the other.

I'm not really sure what she is she's a mix and I believe she is 5-6 months old
she looks to have Rouen in her, she's pretty. She may lay for you before next spring, just hard to say. they have their own time table. I always am thankful that my Muscovys wait till following spring after hatch to start laying since this gives them plenty of time to mature. inside and out.
