The Duck Thread

I like the idea of heritage breeds maybe one day for me, but I got into Muscovy's because I met them in the river below our home and fell in love that was close to 10 yrs ago.

Yeah, Muscovies tend to have more of a wild nature, right? I believe I read they can fly over large fences. Are they good layers?

I have Pekins and Muscovy, hatched Khakis for egg producrion but lost them (two) to a fox. If I get this right Pekins are about 180 eggs a year per duck, Muscovy about 190, Khakis are well over 200 a year, I'm thinking close to 270 (?).

I'm trying Khaki's again, I have 6 incubating now.

Lots of crossbreeds, d'Anver, d'Uccle, Cochin Bantam, Silkie, Leghorn, Australorp, Orpington, Rhode Island, Easter Egger, Barred and Partridge Plymouth Rock, and Houdan.
Just imagining the lovely palette of colors and patterns in your flock. I keep ducks, but when I was a little kid, we had a Rhode Island Red. So I am particularly fond of that breed of chicken, purely emotional reasons.
