Hi, I was wondering where you got your chilterns?

Hi. My chicken family is looking at adding a couple of ducks but I have a few questions before the final decision.
1. Can I feed UNmedicated chick feed to ducklings?
2. Can I easily raise ducks in a coop with chickens?
3. What breeds are the best for (poultry educated) children?

I add corn meal to unmediated chick starter for my ducklings and they have been fine. My 3 ducks live with my 20 chickens they get along fine. Ive used a heated dog bowl in the pen this winter cause chicken waterers and ducks dont go well. Ducks don't go up the ramp into hen house so chickens have their water there.

Possibly not if it's able to put some weight on it, might have a sprain or in need of some niacin supplementation. What are you feeding and are you supplementing at all?

One of my Black Swedish has been injured. Not sure what is wrong exactly. She is limping very badly. I think it is her hip. It is swollen at the hip; leg/foot seems fine. I can touch it and feel a big "egg" on her hip that wasn't there last night (she was injured last night too) so it is just now swelling I guess. Not sure if she dislocated the joint, broke her hip or what. She is eating and laid an egg this morning, but she can barely walk.
