The Duck Thread

I will be ordering my chickens next month and had some quick questions. Are there any illnesses that ducks can get if they live in the same coop with chickens?

Anyone here had a hen hatch her own eggs? I've separated my drakes but my hen is still going crazy like she wants to have them in her side of the pen. The drakes are biting and beating each other calling to her. Is this normal? She lays on her eggs but not as much as I have read. Any help would be great

Yes my ducks have hatched their own ducklings, I let the ducks decide where they want to brood, as long as it's inside and safe, the drakes usually leave her alone once she begins to sit. How many drakes/ducks do you have?

I have two drakes and a hen....my other hen all of a sudden died a few months back. I hoped she would nest in the duck house I have but she just picked a spot behind their pool. I'm thinking maybe they were going nuts because me and my son were working on the chicken coop which has a run that butts up to the duck run. They appear to have calmed now with the drakes separated thanks to a make shift wire wall, and the hen laying on the nest.

do u have chickens with your ducks?

Hi, I have duck and chicken eggs in my incubator, all growing well. Lockdown will be tomorrow evening for the chicken eggs which I am moving to another incubator.
As it's my first time with ducks, (I believe they will take another 6 or 7 days to hatch), will it be the same 3 day lockdown for them and will the temp or humidity need to be any different than for chicken eggs?
